Version 2025.03 and above

As of TASKE Contact version 2025.03, we bundle the Microsoft build of OpenJDK with Desktop so you no longer have to worry about acquiring an appropriate version of Java. The OpenJDK software is licensed under the GNU Public License 2 with classpath exception (GPL 2.0 + CPE). This license allows redistribution for personal and commercial use.

Below Version 2025.03 Java 8 License Information

Versions prior to TASKE Contact 2025.03 require Desktop users to install Java.

Options include:

  • Amazon Corretto 8 – no-cost, production-ready distribution of the Open Java Development Kit
    • After installation, the standard Desktop shortcut will launch Desktop
  • Microsoft Open JDK – no-cost distribution of OpenJDK that’s open source and available for free for anyone to deploy anywhere.
  • Oracle OpenJDK 8 (32-bit) or 11 (64-bit) – released under the open-source GNU General Public License is free to all users
    • Download and unzip onto your machine – 32-bit v8 Windows zip or 64-bit v11 Windows zip
    • Add %root-directory%\bin to your PATH environment variable
    • Add JAVA_HOME environment variable set to %root-directory%
    • To open Desktop, from the TASKE installation directory, run start javaw.exe -jar ttdsktop.jar
