Issue

The TASKE server computer is periodically slow, making applications on that computer slow to respond and update and causing TASKE real-time client applications to become unresponsive.

Solutions

This may happen due to a number of reasons. Depending on the reason, different solutions are proposed:

A non-TASKE application is demanding excessive system resources.

The TASKE server applications should be moved to a dedicated server computer where the TASKE server applications will not be competing with other applications for processor resources.

The TASKE server computer does not meet our system requirements

You should ensure your server computer meets TASKE’s recommended Minimum System Requirements and consider increasing the capabilities of the machine.

The TASKE server computer is generating large or numerous summary files

The TASKE Information Server generates summary files from telephone system data files (.pbx). Once these summaries are generated, TASKE Reports and Visualizer applications use the data to display reports or search results requested by users. When generating summary files, the TASKE server computer’s resources may become taxed for any of the following reasons:

  • the telephone system data file is very large
  • summaries are being created for several days simultaneously
  • the summary generation process is competing with another application that is demanding excessive computer resources

If the summary generation is severely impeding the operation of the TASKE server computer, the priority for generating summary files for Reports and Visualizer can be changed by adding two string value entries in the Windows system registry. This change affects the order that the computer processes tasks. To add the registry keys, open the Windows Registry Editor and browse to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\TASKE Technology\Call Management\

Add the following two string value entries to the key:

ReportSummThreadPriority – allows users to change the priority that the computer will assign to generating TASKE Report summary files.

CallSummThreadPriority – allows users to change the priority that the computer will assign to generating TASKE Visualizer summary files.

Windows has 5 priority levels that can be assigned to tasks the computer must process. Set the value for each string value entry to one of the following priorities:

2 = Time critical priority (highest priority)
1 = Above normal priority
0 = Normal priority
-1 = Below normal priority
-2 = Lowest priority
