Article 40022: Configuring Concurrent TASKE Contact and TASKE Essential Connections with an Iwatsu Enterprise-CS Telephone System
SummaryBuild 8.5.3123.0 of TASKE Contact and TASKE Essential introduced license validation connectivity changes that allow both products to concurrently connect to the same Enterprise-CS telephone system. This article provides a high-level explanation of how to achieve license validation and data collection connectivity for both products. IssueA business wants to use TASKE Contact to monitor and report on its contact center activity and TASKE Essential to monitor and report on telephony activity throughout the rest of the organization. SolutionBuild 8.5.3123.0 of TASKE Contact and TASKE Essential allow sites to concurrently connect both products to a single Enterprise-CS telephone system. Each TASKE product needs to connect to the telephone system for both license validation and data collection. Continue with the paragraphs below for details on how to achieve these connections and to view a system diagram that illustrates the the connectivity between the telephone system and the two TASKE server computers. License ValidationFor license validation, both TASKE Contact and TASKE Essential connect to the telephone system via TCP/IP. Both TASKE Contact and TASKE Essential use the same TCP/IP port to connect to the telephone system for license validation. Prior to build 8.5.3123.0, this caused problems as the TASKE Information Server applications for the two products could collide when attempting to connect to the TCP/IP port. Build 8.5.3123 introduced changes that allow the Information Server to retry the connection up to 5 times at 0.5 second intervals. This allows the Information Server for one product (TASKE Contact or TASKE Essential) to connect, validate the license, and disconnect, leaving the port free for the Information Server for the next product to connect and validate its license. Data CollectionFor data collection, the preferred connection method is TCP/IP. However, only one application can connect to the TCP/IP port supplying the telephone system data stream. For this reason, the telephone system must be equipped with an IX-HCIF card to provide a second connection for data collection. System DiagramThe diagram below illustrates how the TASKE products connect to the telephone system for license validation and data collection.
