Summary
TASKE Technology Inc. releases service packs on occasion that deal with specific issues or provide additional functionality to TASKE Contact. This article explains how to install a TASKE Contact service pack.
The following information is included in this article:
Types of TASKE Contact Service Packs
There are two types of TASKE Contact service packs:
Server updates - a server update includes all TASKE Contact server and client changes. These updates are installed on the TASKE server computer. After completing the update, the TASKE Upgrade Server prompts the affected client applications to perform the update when the applications launch on the client computers.
Add-on server updates - an add-on server update includes changes to servers for other TASKE applications, such as the WallSign Server, Announcer Server, and Web Server. These updates are installed on the computer where the add-on server application resides. This may be the TASKE server computer or a separate computer that is accessible to the TASKE server computer through the network.

Locating Version Information for Currently Installed Applications
The major and minor build numbers of the TASKE Contact installation and the service pack must match to apply the service pack. Applying a service pack to the incorrect version of TASKE Contact may cause problems with the operation of the software.
To determine if the versions match, compare the major and minor build numbers of the the currently installed application and the service pack file name. If the currently installed version of TASKE Contact is 8.5.3065.2, the first seven digits in the service pack file name must be 8053065. The digits 805 represent the major build number of 8.5 and the 3065 is equal to the minor build number.
To determine the version of a currently installed TASKE application:
-
Windows desktop applications - select About <TASKE application name>... from the Help menu
-
Web client applications - open the online help and click the Version Information link in the bottom, left corner of the Welcome page
Verify that the build number matches the number in the service pack file name. If the numbers match, the service pack is meant for the currently installed version of TASKE Contact.
