Article 10070: Preventing the Installation of Old Service Packs on Client Computers
| Products: | TASKE Contact version 8.5, build 2207 and earlier |
| Applications: | Client Upgrades |
| Telephone systems: | All |
Summary
The TASKE Upgrade Server is offering TASKE Contact client computers upgrades that are older than the currently installed version. Performing these upgrades overwrites the current version of some files with older versions.
Issue
Following an upgrade, TASKE Contact client applications crash or do not operate properly.
Reason
The TASKE Upgrade Server is unable to detect when a service pack is older than the version already installed. This prompts the Upgrade Server to offer all existing service packs on the TASKE server computer to client computers for upgrade.
Installing an upgrade that is older than the currently installed version overwrites some files with older versions. The presence of these older files either prevents TASKE Contact applications from operating or cause the applications to operate improperly.
Solution
The best solution is to delete all service packs from the TASKE server computer prior to upgrading any client computers. However, if one or more client computer are already affected by older files, uninstalling and reinstalling TASKE Contact on these computers is necessary.
