Summary

The popularity of Agent Desktop is rising and not only with agents. More and more supervisors are using the Agent Desktop to keep a close eye on contact center activity while performing other computer related tasks. Now, with the graduated licensing structure introduced in version 8.5 of Contact, a supervisor can launch the Agent Desktop with a supervisor license instead of consuming an agent license that may be needed by the agents on duty.

Note: for further information on graduated licensing, refer to Article 10058: Understanding TASKE Contact Licensing for Desktop Applications.

Installing Agent Desktop

To launch the Agent Desktop under a supervisor license it must be installed on the same computer as the Contact supervisor desktop applications. The installation is a simple procedure that is performed over the network.

From the supervisor's computer, use the following steps to install the Agent Desktop.

  1. Browse to the Setups folder on the TASKE server computer.

  2. Open the Agent folder.

  3. Run Setup.exe to launch the Agent Desktop setup.

  4. Follow the instructions in the setup wizard to complete the installation.

Launching Agent Desktop under a Supervisor License

To launch the Agent Desktop under a supervisor license, launch a supervisor application prior to launching the Agent Desktop. If the Agent Desktop is launched without the supervisor application, it will consume an agent license.

From the supervisor's computer, use the following steps to launch the Agent Desktop under a supervisor license.

  1. Launch a TASKE Contact supervisor application that will consume a supervisor license. The applications that will consume a supervisor license are ACD Monitor, Reports, Search, or Visualizer.

  2. Launch the Agent Desktop.

  3. If desired, close the supervisor application. Once the Agent Desktop is running under a supervisor license, it will continue to do so until it closes.

Note: Search and Visualizer are not available for all telephone systems.
