Summary

This article explains how to correct the TASKE virtual directory path in the Microsoft® Internet Information Services (IIS) administrator when this path name includes spaces.

Issue

During the creation of the TASKE web site, the setup wizard passes the name of the TASKE virtual directory path to IIS. When this path name includes spaces, IIS only captures the path name up to the first space. Without a complete path name in IIS, the TASKE web site cannot operate.

Reason

The TASKE utility that automatically creates the TASKE web site does not accept spaces in the path name.

Solution

Even with spaces in the path name, the TASKE web site creation will complete successfully. Once the site setup is finished, correction of the virtual directory path name for the TASKE web site in the Internet Information Services administrator is necessary.

Use the following steps to open the Internet Information Services administrator and correct the virtual directory path name for the TASKE web site.

  1. Open the Windows Control Panel.

  2. Double-click Administrative Tools to open the Administrative Tools window.

  3. Double-click Internet Information Services to open the Internet Information Services administrator window.

  4. In the left pane of the window, expand the tree below the computer name.

  5. Expand the tree below the Web Sites folder.

  6. Expand the tree below Default Web Site.

  7. Right-click the mytaske entry and select Properties to open the mytaske Properties window.

  8. Click Browse... to open the Browse for Folder window and select the location of the TASKE web site on the computer. An example of this location is c:\TASKE 8\webapps. With the space between TASKE and 8, the myTASKE site creation utility is only able to capture c:\TASKE for the path name. The remainder of the path name is added during this process.

  9. Click OK to close the Browse for Folder window and place the path in the the Local Path field.

  10. Click OK to close the mytaske Properties window.

  11. Close the Internet Information Services and Administrative Tools windows.

  12. Launch the TASKE web site and sign in.

Note: the steps for opening the Internet Information Services administrator (steps 1 - 3) apply to Windows 2000 and XP only. Windows NT 4.0 users should read the Microsoft Internet Information Services online documentation for instruction on opening the Internet Service Manager. To access this documentation, go to http://localhost/iishelp/iis/misc/default.aspWeb link from a computer running Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Server and IIS.
