Issue

Reports configured to automatically print, export, or email1 in TASKE Reports are not generating.

  1. The ability to email reports was introduced in TASKE Contact Version 8.5, Upgrade Release 2.

Solution

This may happen for a number of reasons. To resolve this problem:

  • verify that your computer is logged in with your account information (it can be in a locked state, but it must be logged in)

  • ensure that the check boxes for the desired actions (Auto Print, Auto Export, or Auto Email) are enabled in the Properties dialog for the Report Template

Automatic Report Generator

The Automatic Report Generator must also be correctly configured for the report template that will automatically print, export, or email. To configure the report generator, open the Properties page for the report template and click Schedule Report Generator. Verify that the Automatically run Report Generator checkbox is enabled and that the correct day(s) and time are selected.

The Set Password dialog will prompt for an account and password. If you are running Windows NT, 2000 or XP, you must enter your account information. You can leave all the fields blank if you are running Windows 95, 98 or ME.

Testing Your Configuration

To test your settings for the automatic print, export or email of the selected reports, close the Reports application and open the Scheduled Tasks wizard from the Windows Control Panel. Select the TASKE Report Generator icon. Right click it and click Run. If a message appears asking if you want to start the service, click Yes.

If the report still does not print, export, or email open the Scheduled Task log (SchedLgU.txt) by selecting View Log from the Scheduled Tasks Advanced menu. Scroll through the file to where it says:

*****Most recent entry is above this line *****.

If you see:

Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. Verify that the task's Run-as name and password are valid and try again.

return to the Properties page for the TASKE report template and input the correct user information.

Auto Print, Auto Export, and Auto Email Timing

The automatic print, export or email features will only function:

  • The DAY BEFORE for Daily reports
  • The DAY WEEK STARTS ON as defined in the options section of the Administrator for Weekly and YTD/Week reports
  • The FIRST DAY of the month for Monthly and YTD/Month reports
