Article 10028: Agent Desktop Menu Display Problems
| Products: | TASKE Contact version 8.1 |
| Applications: | Agent Desktop |
| Telephone systems: | All |
Summary
Using Agent Desktop on Microsoft® Windows XP in the Docked mode will cause the application's right-click menu to improperly display. As well if the AD is docked left, then the Windows Start menu will not properly display. This will only occur on Windows XP. All other operating systems behave correctly.
Issue
Two display issues will occur:
1. Windows Start menu issue
When you launch the Agent Desktop, dock it on the left side of the screen and then click the Windows Start Menu button you will notice that the menu is not properly displayed; it is displayed behind the Agent Desktop.
2. Agent Desktop menu issue
- Launch the Agent Desktop and dock the window in any position (i.e. Top).
- Next, click the Windows Start menu, or right-click any other application window to open a menu.
- With the Start menu or another menu open, right-click within the Agent Desktop window to open the Agent Desktop menu.
- Notice that the Agent Desktop menu items are not properly displayed; some of the menu items randomly appear then disappear.
Reason
The Microsoft shortcut bar experiences the same issue (MSDN Q136012) with the auto hide feature. If auto hide is enabled, then the start menu is overwritten by the shortcut bar (since it has a higher draw priority).
Solution
In the XP properties for the Task bar disable the option "Keep the taskbar on top of other windows". Then the TASKE Agent Desktop will behave correctly.
