Summary

When deploying a client-server application in a Microsoft® network environment, the following question will commonly arise:

  • Are additional Microsoft Client Access Licenses (CALs) required?

TASKE Web Applications

Web clients do not require CALs to connect to the server.

TASKE web applications include TASKE Contact, TASKE Reporter, and TASKE Essential. A dedicated computer is recommended for the deployment of the server components. Operating systems that are compatible with the web server environment are:

  • Windows Server 2003

  • Windows Server 2003 Web Edition

  • Windows XP (limited to 10 clients)

Client computers can be equipped with any operating system, but must be equipped with a web browser that supports the following:

  • HTML 3.2

  • JavaScript 1.2

  • Java 1.1

TASKE Desktop Applications

Client computers running TASKE desktop applications do not employ any additional devices or users during operation, and therefore, do not require additional CALs.

TASKE Contact is the Windows desktop offering from TASKE Technology. A dedicated computer is recommended for the deployment of the server components. Operating systems that are compatible with the Contact server environment are:

  • Windows Server 2003

The recommended operating system for computers running the desktop client applications is:
