Summary

Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration is a Microsoft® Internet Explorer feature that is enabled by default in Microsoft Windows Server 2003. This is a security feature that limits the ability to browse sites with certain types of web content. Although a valuable resource for protecting your computer, this feature does pose difficulties when attempting to load a TASKE web application. This article provides instruction for adding your TASKE web application to the list of local Intranet sites in Internet Explorer and eliminating the loading difficulties associated with Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration.

Issue

When browsing to a TASKE web application, a blank page loads instead of the Sign In page.

Reason

On TASKE server computers using Windows Server 2003, this is probably due to Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration being enabled. This security feature is enabled by default in all versions of Windows Server 2003 and it blocks several types of web content that are known to contain security threats.

Solution

Add the TASKE web application to the Local intranet zone in Internet Explorer. To do this, open Internet Explorer and select Internet Options... from the Tools menu and display the Security tab. Select the Local Intranet web content zone and click Sites... to open the Local intranet window. Click Advanced... and, in the window that follows, add:

http://<TASKE Web Server Name>

to the list of local Intranet sites. Close the Internet Options windows and browse to the TASKE web application Sign In page. The page should now load properly.
