Summary
An incorrect configuration of the TASKE web server computer can impede or prevent web client connections to the server. Common symptoms of an incorrect configuration are the inability to sign into a web application or real-time applets failing to update. The TASKE Connectivity Applet provides the tools to quickly test the validity of the client-server connection, including connections through a firewall.
Note: version 8.5.3072.0 of TASKE products includes the TASKE Connectivity Applet. If the TASKE product version is below 8.5.3072.0, continue to Article 10116: Installing the TASKE Connectivity Applet used to Test Web Client Connectivity to TASKE Server Components for instruction on downloading and installing this applet.
Using the TASKE Connectivity Applet
Before using the TASKE Connectivity Applet to test the client-server connection, verify that all required TASKE server components are started on the TASKE web server computer. If testing through a firewall, the test should involve computers from both sides of the firewall. Using the web server computer to test the client connection is not recommended.
To view the Connectivity Applet on a client computer, open a browser window and use the appropriate address for the web application the site is using.

Once loaded, the applet automatically populates the IP address of the TASKE web server computer, the port number on the web server that sends real-time updates, and the number of seconds the applet should wait for a response from the server once the test begins (Ping).
To begin the test, input a valid user name and password for the TASKE web application and click Test.
If the log returns a TEST SUCCESSFUL result, the connection settings are correct. If the log returns a TEST FAILED result, the connection settings are incorrect. The log will provide some suggestions and a link to one or more TASKE knowledge base articles that may help resolve the issue. Use these suggestions and knowledge base articles to determine the best course of action for achieving a successful test result.
If the changes required to achieve a TEST SUCCESSFUL result includes IP address or port number changes, these values must be changed at the TASKE web server computer. To change the IP address at the web server computer, use the Network Settings utility that is available through the Tools menu in TASKE Console. If a port number change is required, contact the TASKE Technical Support Department for assistance.
