Summary

TASKE applications require disk space in two ways. First, a static amount of space for application installation. Second, a variable amount of space for storing data files, user preferences, configuration settings, and other associated files. Continue with the sections below to gain insight into the amount of disk space required for installation and storage by your TASKE applications.

Installation Space Required by TASKE Applications

The amount of space required to install TASKE applications varies by application, but remains static for each. Following are approximate disk space requirements for installing the various types of TASKE applications:

TASKE Application Approximate Disk Space Required
TASKE Contact Server 200 MB
TASKE Web Application Servers
  • TASKE Web Services
  • TASKE Reporter Server
  • TASKE Essential Server
75 MB
TASKE Client Applications
  • TASKE DisplayCentral
10 MB
  • TASKE Desktop
2MB

Storage Space Required by TASKE Applications

Several factors are involved in determining the amount of storage space required by TASKE applications. The highest determining factors are the application type and function. The sections below describe the amount of storage required for each application type.

TASKE Contact, TASKE Reporter, and TASKE Essential Server Applications

The amount of storage space required by TASKE Contact, TASKE Reporter, and TASKE Essential server applications is based on the number of telephone system resources the TASKE server application is monitoring and the call volume for the site. Together, these determine the size of the telephone system data files (.pbx) and the summary files for producing reports (.tds, .tws, .tms) and Visualizer filter results (.zip/.tcs).

Using two sites as examples, the table below illustrates how call volume and the number of telephone system resources impact the size of the telephone system data files and summary files for a site.

Site Variables Small Site
Mid-Size Site
Number of Calls per day 1000 3500
Number of Trunks 100 100
Number of Extensions 100 200
Number of Agents 20 100
Number of Queues 5 35
Number of Account Codes / Qualifier Codes 0 5
Number of DNIS Numbers 0 0
Telephone System Data File Size (.pbx) 4 MB 10 MB
Daily Summary File Size (.tds) 500 KB 1 MB
Weekly Summary File Size (.tws) 500 KB 1 MB
Monthly Summary File Size (.tms) 500 KB 2 MB
Call Summary File Size (.zip/.tcs) 250 KB 500 KB

Using the data in the above table, sites can estimate the amount of disk space required for one year of storage. To do this, remember the following:

  • one telephone system data (.pbx) file is created per day
  • one daily summary file (.tds) is created per day
  • one call summary file (.zip/.tcs) is created per day
  • one weekly summary file (.tws) is created per week
  • one monthly summary file (.tms) is created per month

For the Mid-Size Site, this amounts to approximately 4 GB per year of storage space. This calculation should not be taken at face value as the amount of space required. The site should factor in additional space for the growth of both resources and call volume. So, for this site, doubling the amount of space to the range of 8 to 10 GB would be ideal.

If the site does not wish to dedicate this amount of space, the disk maintenance utilities in TASKE Administrator provide the tools for manually or automatically archiving (compressing) and deleting data files. For instruction on using these utilities, go to the TASKE Administrator online help from the TASKE server computer.

TASKE Client Applications

TASKE client applications such as TASKE DisplayCentral and TASKE Desktop do not require storage space beyond 1 MB. These applications store only settings and user preference files.
